A little bit about me...

Matt Cardenas, a proud southern-midwestern hybrid, was born an Army brat in Brownsville, Texas and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. While growing up he divided his time between playing soccer and performing in various theatre productions in the St. Louis area. He appeared with many school and community productions as well as having the opportunity to share his talents at The St. Louis MUNY and being a member of the MUNY Teens; additionally he is an alumni of TeamSTAGES, the premiere mixed A Cappella group through STAGES St. Louis. He is also the recipient of the Musical Theatre Performance Scholarship through New Line Theatre Company under the Artistic Direction of Scott Miller.
He made his national touring debut at the age of 23 with the 25th Anniversary National Tour of Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story as Ritchie Valens on which he also served as Dance Captain and Assistant Choreographer for the production! Some other favorite roles include Sonny in In The Heights, Willard Hewitt in Footloose, Carlos in Legally Blonde & Chip Tolentino in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Matt also made his New York City theatre debut as Ben in Happily the Musical as part of the 2017 Winterfest Theatre Festival at the Hudson Guild Theatre.
Matt has also started to delve in the Film & Television industry having been seen in the short film, "Lehte", as well as filming extra roles on CBS' "Elementary" (S3, Ep. 19), ABC's "Quantico" (S2, Ep. 16) and the NETFLIX original series "Master of None" (S1, Ep. 3), written by and starring Aziz Ansari.
Matt is a proud graduate of the prestigious Professional Actor Training Program at Missouri State University and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre now under the Coordination of Tony-Award Nominated actor Robert Westenberg. Outside of performing, Matt is an avid traveler and can probably be found in an airport somewhere gearing up for a new adventure! Stay tuned!
